      than argue taste, I sort it on Kano: is the grip a basic, performance, or
      delighter? Usability testing showed users in the field use the tool with
      wet, gloved hands — the grip is a basic for safety, not a delighter. I
      bring that evidence and propose an alternative: keep the grip but switch
      from two-shot overmold to a cheaper textured-mold-in-texture (MT finish)
      plus a recycled TPE only on the contact zone, cutting the second-shot
      tooling cost while preserving the grip. We hit the cost target without
      sacrificing the affordance. The discipline: arbitrate cost-downs with user
      evidence and a cheaper way to keep the value, not with opinion.


      **A new kettle design tests beautifully in renders but fails in the
      hand.** The render-approved handle looks elegant — thin, sculptural. I
      insist on a foam appearance model before CAD lock. In hand, full of water,
      the thin handle digs into the palm and the balance point pitches the
      spout. I rework the cross-section to fill the palm (referencing grip
      anthropometrics for the 95th-percentile hand), move the handle rearward to
      rebalance the loaded center of mass, and add a thumb rest as a signifier
      for orientation. The render looked better; the foam model was right.
      Ergonomics and physical testing beat the pretty picture every time.
